HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT INTERN/TRAINEE PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

 

We are searching for the next generation of TOPGOLF OPERATIONS LEADERS

 

Why? FAST GROWTH! We are and have been opening about 10 new venues per year and will be for the next several years...that is 500 Hourly Associates & 30 Salaried Managers PER NEW VENUE! 

 

What does that really mean? We aim to hire interns who will commit to staying with Topgolf once the internship is over as we work to develop you into a salaried operations manager role!

 

HM MIT Interns are the best-of-the-best hospitality students around the nation – they train like Associates but think like Managers! They are experts at the technical side of the job – knowledge of hospitality principles and the ability to apply them. But beyond that, our HM MIT Interns are natural leaders who are highly dedicated to their professional growth and want to continue their career with Topgolf as an operations leader immediately following the successful completion of the program.

 

The program identifies and engages future Topgolf leaders during their college career. HM MIT Interns obtain hands-on experience in one of the nation's fastest growing sports entertainment organizations. Most importantly, they have the unique opportunity to experience Topgolf's famous culture!

 

The vision of the program is to provide hospitality students with an opportunity to grow professionally in the hospitality industry and to identify the next generation of Topgolf leadership.

Key Responsibilities

HOW YOU'LL DO IT

  • Be Actively Engaged and 100% responsible for all received training and development...you are training to become a salaried operations manager!!!
  • Learn the foundations of each hourly position:
    • Facilities/Maintenance, Porter/Housekeeping and IT
    • Guest Services
    • Heart of House (Dish, Prep, Pantry, Grill, Fry and Expo)
    • Food Runner, Drink Runner and Busser
    • Bar Back, Bartender
    • Server
    • Event Sales, Memberships, Event Ambassador
    • Office Admin
    • Marketing
  • Work Opening and Closing MOD shifts during each hourly position training shift to learn how, as a Manager, you will Open and Close the Venue
  • Complete MOD Open & Close Checklists for each hourly position training shift
  • Work MOD Shadow Shifts assisting the management team to support Associate and Guest experience
  • Work MOD Solo Shifts assisting the management team to support Associate and Guest experience
  • Utilize training materials each shift to ensure a comprehensive training shift is executed the Topgolf Way
  • Write and submit detailed Weekly Recaps to aid in knowledge retention and submit to Managers
  • Maintain a high level of self-awareness of performance of the internship competencies
  • Prepare and deliver a Final Presentation
  • Directly report to the Director of Operations and Operations Managers while working closely with the Training Manager

Key Qualifications

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

EDUCATION:

  • Progress towards degree, major in Hospitality Management, Hotel & Restaurant Management, or other similar hospitality major
  • Minimum senior level or recent graduate (if a recent graduate, must have graduated no longer than 1 year previous to internship semester)
  • Non-hospitality majors will not be considered at this time

EXPERIENCE:

  • Work experienced in the hospitality field, 1+ years (restaurant, hotel, or golf environment) 
  • Leadership experience in the hospitality field, 1+ years
  • Demonstrates a passion and interest for working in a super-high volume, high-fun operations environment

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • 13 week intern program
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including mornings, mid-shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays (we do our best to work around your academic class schedule!)
  • Availability to attend all mandatory core class trainings (occurs within the first couple of weeks)
  • Must commit to continued employment in operations with Topgolf following the internship
  • Must be willing to relocate to other Topgolf Venues in the nation for a salaried management position following the internship & college graduation
