Overview

Topgolf Media is looking for a Senior Level Designer to join a small developer-led internal team building an exciting new mobile game in the Golf space. This design position is responsible for owning and creating a large amount of our shippable content and will have a big impact on our team and the game’s direction. It is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a great team focused on creating entertaining, never-before-seen experiences in the Golf world as we push the boundaries of what can be considered Golf.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new golf courses from scratch.
  • Design and implement cameras for courses. 
  • Create and maintain design specs for a variety of golf courses and course mechanics. 
  • Refine gameplay based on Data and Playtesting Feedback. 
  • Create user stories and participate in AGILE development process. 
  • Operate in a collaborative environment with other developers to develop the highest quality product. 
  • Be a design expert in the field of golf course design, mentoring and sharing knowledge and process with team.  

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred
  • Masters degree, preferred
  • 7+ years of experience as a Game Developer & Level Designer, required
  • 5+ years of working experience with Unity (or similar) game engine, using scripting tools, required
  • 3+ years of familiarity with prototyping games, preferred
  • 3+ years of familiarity with AGILE development practices & Small Pod leadership, preferred
  • Ability to create compelling Grey box game spaces in 3D environments using Unity Terrain scripting tools
  • Ability to coordinate with Environment Artists to bring the levels to life
  • Ability to create well-paced, appropriately challenging gameplay
  • Working knowledge of camera systems & asset pipelines
  • Good communication skills (Written, Visual & Verbal)
  • Being a positive self-starter & team player
  • Knowledge of AGILE best practices
  • Ability to take an idea from whiteboard through shippable product
  • Bonus skills: 
    • Knolwedge of golf course design theory
    • Storytelling/World building skills
    • Knowledge of Mobile games
    • Knowledge of Golf games
